Design Integrity

To design a world standard compressor, nothing can be left to chance. We design every Ariel with this goal: to manufacture a compressor that will work in the field for the maximum number of continuous hours. We start with the strengths and successes of the more than 33,000 Ariel compressors in service throughout the world and build from there.

Because the compressor is at the center of an integrated system that includes the driver, cooler, piping and other components, each Ariel design carefully integrates the compressor with the driver and the package system. That means consistently lower lifetime cost. Designing to match existing drivers provides maximum driver power and efficiency. Piston stroke is coordinated precisely with valve design to produce an optimum combination of valve efficiency and life. Finally, our conservative design approach results in low material stresses and bearing loads.

Integrating the technical design of the compressor with an understanding of manufacturing technology has been a key to our success. Each design considers the feasibility of patterns, castings and machining. The result is consistent quality and on-time delivery at a competitive price.

Ease of maintenance is no accident – it is designed into each machine. Ariel compressors are manufactured with easy access to all areas requiring maintenance. Standard bolting and tools are incorporated into the design to eliminate component availability problems.

Technology

Ariel is leading the world in the development and utilization of new technology. Our goal is to continuously improve the efficiency and reliability of our compressors in order to reduce operation and maintenance expenses in the field.

To that end, Ariel has its own Research and Development Center. This center is a complete compressor station operating in a closed-loop pipeline. Ariel's test loop compressor station duplicates field conditions, but in a controlled environment. Torsional analysis, vibration analysis, pressure performance, burst testing and component analysis (valves, packings and piston rings) are among the numerous research projects underway in the facility.

Our conservative approach to design simply means Ariel compressors are built to perform beyond expected and specified requirements. Ariel has led the development of modern compression technology with gas-cooled cylinders, high-speed driver-rated design and market-driven innovation. Manufacturing Excellence

The key to manufacturing excellence at Ariel is our ability to control the process, not from the top, but from within the organization. We build our compressors to run longer and require less maintenance – maximum reliability in the field. To this end, every cylinder is hydro-tested in our factory to 150% of maximum allowable working pressure. The final approval to ship an Ariel compressor is only granted after a four-hour test run. After the test run, a master inspector performs a thorough inspection of the entire machine and, if acceptable, proudly puts his permanent nameplate on the compressor.

Ariel offers the most comprehensive and generous warranty in the industry. Subject to proper maintenance and normal use, our warranty covers every part for 12 months. The crankshaft, crankcase casting, crossheads, crosshead guide castings, and connecting rods are covered for 6 years, provided all replacement parts are OEM-Ariel parts.

Ariel's Authorized Distributors and packagers integrate the compressor with a structural skid, a prime mover, piping, pulsation control, cooling systems, process valving, and control systems. This package integration is critical to the performance of the compressor.

To ensure the highest quality package, we select and only work with the most highly qualified and experienced distributors in the business.

When an owner of an Ariel compressor contacts an Ariel distributor (packager), he will get the response he expects from Ariel people – fast, courteous and complete. We work with our distributors to resolve questions quickly to keep your Ariel compressors on the job.

Traditions

Ariel Corporation was founded in 1966 to produce a separable, reciprocating gas compressor in the 100 to 200 horsepower range. Ariel founder Jim Buchwald started a company where quality of design and manufacturing became deeply embedded in Ariel's culture.

Ariel's first compressor, the JG, set a new standard in compressor performance. Producers made more money with the JG compressor because quick delivery, lower packaging costs, reliability and field service savings all contributed to better bottom lines.

As the Ariel product line grew, the same high standards applied to Ariel compressors have been applied to Ariel itself. We are a company where each and every person's contribution to the product is valued and respected, where quality is inherent in our culture, and where solutions grow naturally out of team-based problem-solving.
